PINK BEADS

 

Here is a new technique I just learned.  Knitting with beads.  I've made this hat for a Xmas Gift for my Mom. Total knit time was 3 days. 

Materials:

500 beads Pink (1 bag) of Rowan beads.
1+ a little more of a 2nd skein of Classic Elite Inca Print in color#4634
100% Alpaca 109 yards (50 grams)
#4 neeldes (1pr of circular 16" & a set of double points for the top)
A large eye needle to thread the beads (bead place or craft store)

Prep: 

You must first thread all the beads onto your yarn. This took me about 1 hrs. to put all 500 beads on the yarn.  Be careful that you do not tug on the yarn very hard...it could break.  It did not happen to me, but I've seen it happen to others.  You can still continue, but you'll have to weave in those loose ends and for a hat, it's just so much nicer to have it all in one skein without any breaks.

To get the beads correctly on this band, it is a two part step 1) bring the bead in on a knit stitch and then on the next row 2) is where the bead is placed and locked in place on a purl row.

This is made from 100% Mongolian Cashmere.  It is so very soft!  The yarn is very delicate and it's important not to pull too hard on the beads or you will break the yarn. December 22, 2006
