Now I have to make one for my apprentice pledge by March Crown, March 19th, 2010.
I wanted to make the haversack fully lined. The first one I made was only lined in the pouch part. Her's will be made out of the best materials I can find.

| So I've been working on the Haversack for a gift to the new laurel in Oretha. |

She will be a roundell which will be surounded by couched wool laurel leaves. From her hand, beads will float up to form the dipper which has the North Star.
This will be on the front flap. On the back will be runes of protection and health.
Inside on the lining will be runes (very small) saying Jocelyn made me. |

| 2-13-10 Worked on my little viking lady |
|
I have her cape done now just the etawal (sp?) star. I want to do a different stitch since everything else is chain. Skin and hair are single thread, clothes and jewelery are 2 threads. |
2_22_10 I was good today and worked on the haversack. Made up the red linen lining and embroidered the words:
"Jocelyn made me" on side side and
"To the stars" on the other side. |
|
Embroidered the symbols for Good Health, Luck and Creativity on the front side of the pouch. These will be covered up when the pouch is closed. |
| Once the embroidery is done, I can make up the wool outer and put it all together. I hope she like it, a lot of work has gone into this haversack. |

The front flap is completed. Beads go from her hand to to sky to form the constalation of the Little Dipper which ends in the North Star.
This all took me all day...about 12 hours worth! Yikes. I thought I'd be able to finish, but only got the rest of the embroidery done along with the beading. |
 |
2-24-10 |
Now I hope to finish today. Keep your fingers crossed |

|
Got the Inkle strap sewed onto the wool. |
 |
|
- Tuck straps along the right-side of the wool
- Turn lining right-side in and place on the outside of the wool
- pin along the outside and sew leaving an opening & trim the excess linning off.
- turn the lining through the opening

With trepidation do I sew the fabrics together.... |
 |
|
With sucess it turned out right for the process, however I managed to make a twist in the strap!!!
Unpicked the strap from the haversack and the lining...what a chore..I sewed that sucker good.
Untwisted the strap...pinned it..checked it...
sewed it all back down again..That's All Done...Yhay*** |
 |
|
Now to sew up the last bit and the final embroidery, and it's not even noon. |
| |
|
Time for a break...I'm going to the store. |
 |
|
Finished the embroidery while watching The Mist, horrible ending but otherwise the movie is not too bad. |
| small patches with a laurel leaf will do the trick. |
2-24-10 |
Now I need to make some applicated work to cover the ends where the machine sewing shows. |
 |
|
DONE! |

Done & ready to be sent off. Four months in planing, execution and finishing! |
