STRAW HAT

I have this hat with a very ligh crown.  I didn't take a photo before I cut it off, but you can see how high it is in the photo below.

I still have about 1 inch left on the brim.

I cut it down by 2" total and place the modified crown back into the brim.

Then I sewed it back together.  It is more period now. 

I plan to sew an inkle or tablet woven band around the crown and will make some ties for under the chin.
